FAQ Brittany Spaniel Belgium
All your questions about adopting a Brittany Spaniel puppy in Belgium.
🪱 At what age are the puppies dewormed?
Our puppies are dewormed regularly from a very young age, in accordance with veterinary recommendations.
– Starting at 4 weeks of age
– Then weekly until 8 weeks of age
– Then once per month until 6 months of age
– After 6 months: deworming is recommended 2 to 4 times per year, depending on the dog’s lifestyle and veterinary advice
💉 At what age do puppies receive their vaccinations?
– First vaccination at 8 weeks of age, including a complete veterinary health check
– Mandatory booster vaccinations to be completed by the adopter:
– Booster around 12 weeks
– Booster around 16 weeks, according to the veterinary protocol
– Annual or triennial boosters will then be determined by your veterinarian
– Each puppy leaves our kennel:
– Identified with an electronic microchip
– With a European pet passport
– With a Saint-Hubert pedigree certifying verified lineage
– Vaccinated and dewormed according to veterinary guidelines
🦠 Rabies vaccination: is it mandatory?
In Belgium, rabies vaccination is not mandatory for dogs that remain within the country.
However, for any travel outside Belgium (vacation, extended stay, relocation), rabies vaccination is required.
👉 The rabies vaccine can be administered from 12 weeks of age.
👉 The dog may travel 21 days after the injection.
Any adoption from a country other than Belgium must therefore wait a minimum of 15 weeks before welcoming their new companion. This extended stay also involves additional costs (please contact us for further details).
🚗 Can I travel abroad with my puppy?
Yes, provided that your puppy:
– Is identified with a microchip
– Has a European pet passport
– Is vaccinated against rabies
– Complies with the regulations of the destination country
As each country applies its own regulations, we strongly recommend checking the applicable requirements with the relevant authorities before traveling.
🦟 Parasite Prevention Treatments (fleas, ticks, mosquitoes)
Puppies leave our kennel without active external parasite treatment.
👉 The choice of treatment depends on several factors, including:
– The dog’s age and weight
– Their environment
– Their lifestyle
We strongly recommend consulting your veterinarian and avoiding self-medication to ensure your companion’s safety and well-being.
🏡 What should I do when my puppy arrives home?
To ensure a smooth adjustment, we recommend:
– Allowing a calm and gradual adaptation period
– Avoiding areas with high dog traffic until the vaccination schedule is complete
– Scheduling a veterinary appointment within the first few days after arrival
These first weeks are essential for building trust and establishing a balanced relationship.
❤️ Our Commitment
We remain available to support adopters both before and after their puppy leaves our kennel.
The health, well-being, and overall balance of our puppies remain our top priority.
If an owner is no longer able to care for their puppy or dog, the animal must be returned to the breeder. It may not be given away, sold, or transferred to a third party without the breeder’s prior written consent.
