🎓 Training & outings

Equipment should support clear, safe handling without replacing trust or training.

  • Use a long line while recall is still developing.
  • Choose a durable lead and collar for daily walks.
  • Use a suitable anti-pull harness for long walks.

The Pawpro training collar should remain an occasional aid, used only after the basic commands have been taught and at the lowest setting your dog responds to. It must never be used for punishment, cause pain or replace positive reinforcement.

🛏️ Comfort & equipment

Comfortable bedding and practical equipment support rest and simplify everyday life.

  • A washable bed in a quiet area.
  • A secure resting place that everyone respects.
  • An absorbent drying coat after rain, swimming or hunting.
🧼 Grooming & care

The Brittany Spaniel has an easy-care, naturally self-cleaning coat.

As long as your dog does not smell, there is no need to bathe them. We wash our dogs only two or three times a year, using a suitable dog shampoo. After a muddy walk, a simple rinse with clean water is generally enough.

  • Use the slicker brush for regular grooming and the Furminator Undercoat mainly during shedding periods.
  • Shedding can be intense depending on the season and weather. Brush every other day during these periods to remove dead hair and limit loose hair around the home.
  • Check the ears, paws and nail length regularly.
🧠 Activities & enrichment

A Brittany needs a balance of physical exercise, problem-solving, scent work and recovery.

  • Combine daily movement with mental work.
  • Vary retrieving, scent work, puzzles and chewing.
  • Training dummies and other scent-training tools are equipment, not toys to leave freely available.
🧹 Everyday cleaning

Efficient equipment makes it easier to manage hair, mud and marks brought home after outings.

A dog inevitably brings muddy paw prints, hair and dirt back from walks. To keep floors clean without spending too much time on it, we regularly use a Tineco vacuum mop.

💡 Breeder’s tip

Observe your dog and adapt duration, intensity and equipment to their individual needs.

Adapt intensity to age, health and weather. Calm time and recovery matter just as much as activity.
